MOZART’S The Marriage of Figaro is set to combine great music, laugh-out-loud comedy and powerful insights into what it is to be human when it comes to Malvern Theatres.
The play tells the tale of Susanna who horrifies Figaro, on the day they are due to be married, by revealing the unwanted attention she is receiving from his boss – a womanising count who is becoming increasingly insistent.
Further complications are caused by a teenager called Cherubino who is infatuated with the countess who loves her unfaithful husband but is very flattered to be noticed by a much younger man.
Through quick thinking and subterfuge, the servants outwit the master and the women get the better of the men in a satirical romp that is joyful and subversive in equal measure.
The Independent called it an ‘inspirational’ play while the Fringe Opera labelled it as having ‘sublime music which will really knock
you back’.
The play will appear at Malvern Theatres next Friday (July 17) at 7.20pm.
Tickets are between £21.28 and £19.04.
