Suchet will star in Wilde classic

Malvern Editorial 20th May, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

A PRODUCTION of the Oscar Wilde’s much loved and exhilarating masterpiece The Importance of Being Earnest is coming to Malvern Theatres.

The play, directed by Adrian Noble, will be shown from Monday (May 25) until Saturday (May 30).

The production tells the tale of two bachelor friends, Algernon Moncrieff and John Worthing who both lead double lives to court the attentions of the desirable Gwendolyn Fairfax and Cecily Cardew.

The duo must then grapple with the consequences of their ruse and with the formidable Lady Bracknell.

Wilde’s superb satire on Victorian manners is considered to be one of the funniest plays in the English language, with delightful repartee and hilarious piercing of hypocrisy and pomposity.

Tickets cost between £19.60 and £36.40 and the show will start at 7.30pm in the evenings and at 2.30pm on the Wednesday and Saturday matinée.
