Young Company bring Oliver to Malvern

Malvern Editorial 5th Aug, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

MALVERN Theatres Young Company will be presenting its 2015 production of Oliver later this month.

Lionel Bart’s musical based on Dickens’s well-known novel will take to the stage at the Forum Theatre from Monday, August 17 to Saturday, August 22.

The play, which will be directed by Andy Reiss, tells the tail of young orphan Oliver Twist who navigates London’s underworld of theft and violence searching for a home, a family and most importantly love.

When he is picked up on the street by a boy names the Artful Dodger he is welcomed into a gang of child pickpockets led by the conniving but charismatic Fagin.

Falsely accused of a theft he did not commit, Oliver is rescued by a kind and wealthy gentleman to the dismay of Fagin’s violent sidekick Bill Sykes.

Caught in the middle is the warm-hearted Nancy, who is trapped under Bill’s thumb, but desperate to help Oliver, with tragic results.

Last year’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar played to standing ovations at the end of every performance and this year’s show promises just as many thrills and outstanding musical performances.

Evening shows will begin at 7pm while the Saturday matinée will be at 2pm.

Tickets cost between £17.92 and £15.68 or £8.96 for under 26s and can be purchased by contacting the Malvern Theatres’ Box Office on 01684 892277.
