Composer inspires musical students

UPBEAT pupils demonstrated their sense of rhythm and musicality when a famous composer dropped in to a Malvern school.

David Lowe, who has written music for BBC News at Ten, the One Show, Countryfile and Panaroma, visited Grove Primary School on Friday (June 19) to teach Year 6 children how tunes are composed.

The students also put together their own piece of music for the school’s website.

Mr Lowe said: “It is about engaging kids and showing them if they really want to do something and are passionate about it, you can do it.

“It was to show them they are not detached from the world out there – it is there if they want to go and get it.”

Headteacher Mark Ridlington added: “It was fantastic for the children to work with someone like David Lowe.

“It was important from an aspiration point of view because these children are about to move to secondary school and the message is very much ‘you can do whatever you want if you work hard and have a passion for it’.”
