Defib awareness day brings in the crowd

A SPECIAL defibrillator awareness day in Bromsberrow attracted more than 40 people.

The event which was held at the Shop was led by trainer Gareth Roberts, the managing director of GDR Solutions, which provides first aid and fire safety training in the area.

Following instructions and a question and answer session participants were given a real hands on opportunity to use their newly learnt skills at CPR before they had a go at using a defibrillator.

The Mike Ellis Memorial Fund and Bromsberrow Parish Council have now helped to pay for and install automated external defibrillators (AED) in both Bromsberrow Heath and Bromesberrow.

Barbara Ellis, from the charity, said: “These AED’s can be accessed and used by any member of the public, but it is important people are not only made aware of the location of the defibrillators but also they are not afraid to use them and understand how to gain access to the locked cabinets in which they are contained. “
