Dog owner tells of heartbreak as search for Max goes on #LetsGetMaxHome

A DISTRAUGHT dog owner has expressed her heartbreak as the search for her missing dog worryingly continues following his disappearance on Christmas Day.

Amanda Lambert, who lives in Malvern, said the search for Max, an eight-year-old English Springer Spaniel, has ‘literally been torture’.

The heartbroken owner revealed Max was having a sleepover at her relatives house in Bromyard in Herefordshire on Christmas Eve before going missing the next morning.

Max had been playing outside but Amanda’s relatives soon realised that five out of seven dogs in the garden had suddenly disappeared including Max.

Four of the dogs returned one-by-one after a call out but Max was nowhere to be seen.

Since then an appeal has been launched to try and return Max to his heartbroken owners. The family has offered a £500 reward for anyone who finds him.

Three weeks after Max went missing, Amanda told her Facebook followers her dog’s disappearance was getting harder and harder to face up to.

She said: “We are now so emotionally and physically drained, we are feeling so lost in all of this.

“We have felt everything from upset to anger. Have we missed somewhere? Did someone pick him up? Where do I even begin to try now?

“The other more disturbing thought going through my mind, has someone shot him for being on their land, but I know this, Max has never and would never worry livestock, he’s grown up around it.”

West Mercia Police is supporting the appeal known as ‘Let’s Get Max Home’, which has more than 5,700 followers on Facebook and a Twitter account.

Amanda said she’s been overwhelmed by people’s support and pleaded for Max to come back home.

“Max, find a way back to me, please, I don’t know what else to do or try! I wish I could turn back the clock, I blame myself for a lot of things like putting your collar on but I blame you more! You stupid boy – I just hope I get to tell you off again! Xxx,” she added.

“Time is now against us as we are nearer the three week mark and Mother Nature has decided to actually grace us with a winter! This is literally torture!”
