MALVERN residents were urged to root out their duvets and bring the spring clean forward by immersing themselves in a new culture.
Kwai’s Laundrette hosted a Duvet Day yesterday (Tuesday) for people to bring their bedding in and kick-start celebrations to welcome in the Chinese New Year this week.
Those who attended the Newtown Road site were entered in to a champagne draw and owner Kwai Chan said he had cooked up the idea at his Authentic Foods restaurant next door.
“The Duvet Day was a thing we had wanted to do for some time,” he said. “I was a little bit under pressure because my wife was sceptical at first but she soon got completely behind the scheme.
“The world is in a pretty bad state and if I can get more people to respect one another’s culture differences then I feel that I have done something about it.
“Everybody needs a duvet, no matter rich or poor, thin or thick, black or white, so I can see the Duvet Day lasting as long as we are here.”
