A GROUP of fitness fanatics from Malvern Spa raised more than £1,700 after taking part in a gruelling triathlon.

The money generated from the special event, which took place last Monday (May 11) and on Sunday (May 17), will be donated to The Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign.

All the participants completed a gruelling 5km cycle ride, 3km run, jog or walk and a 1km row.

There was also a bumper raffle with a special prize which was given to Justin Marshall, from Harris Lamb, who raised more than £1,200 by inviting his friends and colleagues to sponsor him.

Justin said: “I think most people know someone who has experienced Breast Cancer problems and it is a good feeling to help in some way and at the same time compete with such a friendly group of people.

“I applaud the Spa for arranging this very enjoyable challenge and enabling members of the public to also take part.”

Sam Johnstone, gym supervisor, added: “The event was a great success and it was gratifying that so many members of all ages took part.”
