Good work by town PCs commended

MALVERN officers have been rewarded for their ‘excellent work’ in making the town a safer place.

PC David Wise and PC Paul Lambon were both presented with the Superintendent’s Commendation, by Supt Mark Travis, for their efforts in Malvern.

In December 2013, PC Wise and PC Lambon, Safer Neighbourhood Officer’s for the Pickersleigh ward, were instrumental in securing a closure order for a house in the area which was being used for the supply of cocaine.

All necessary enquiries, paperwork and liaisons with Festival Housing were undertaken and as a result the house was reclaimed.

The pair were also heavily involved in securing a possession order on a property occupied by a family causing high levels of anti-social behaviour in Pickersleigh.

In preparation for the possession hearing, a comprehensive case was compiled and at the conclusion His Honour Judge Pearce-Higgins praised their professionalism.

“The police have acted extremely well, in the best tradition of community policing, deeds to public service, compassion, interest in people and enormous patience,” he said.

Other work PC Wise was commended for was his commitment to the Malvern Cops Twitter feed, which has soared from 60 followers to more than 3,000 in just 18 months and funding a bike safety campaign delivered to Year 6 pupils across the district.

PC Lambon has also played a major part in reducing the number of catalytic converters being stolen in Malvern, under Operation Urban, and was the originator of a Boatwatch scheme aimed at cutting down the amount of thefts from boats.
