LEDBURY MP Bill Wiggin has labelled the British public’s decision to leave the European Union has a ‘momentous day’ for the country.

The North Herefordshire MP supported the Leave campaign throughout the Referendum process.

He said: “I am delighted that the people of the UK, in exercising their democratic right to vote, have voted to leave the European Union.

“We have decided to take back control of the UK. This is a momentous day and a very exciting time for British Politics.

“I firmly believe that this decision will lead to a more prosperous future for the people of Britain, as we reaffirm our position as a great European power heading into a bright future.

“I would also like to place on record my disappointment at the news that The Prime Minister is to step down.

“Mr Cameron has led our party and this country over the years. He led us to a deserved majority at the last election, delivered a one nation conservative Government, and it is his bravery that allowed this once in a generation Referendum to take place.

“I wish him and his family the best for the future.”
