THE LEDBURY MP has been honoured with a unique ‘Beer Champion’ award in Parliament.

Bill Wiggin, who champions Britain’s beer industry, was honoured with the unique accolade and was presented with a certificate and souvenir pump clip by the British Beer and Pub Association and the Society of Independent Brewers.

The award recognises the role of MPs who supported Britain’s national drink between 2010 to 2015 term of office.

In particular, the accolade highlights Bill Wiggin’s support in securing historic consecutive cuts in beer duty in the 2013 and 2014 budgets, helping to safeguard jobs and investment and keeping beer affordable.

Mr Wiggin said: “Many jobs and lives in North Herefordshire are dependent on brewing, cider and pubs.

“Beer and pubs support 1,503 vital jobs in North Herefordshire and adds £51.1million to the local economy.

“I will continue to press the Government to help our beer industry, our pubs and our breweries in North Herefordshire.”
