At Hanley Castle High School more than 30 per cent of all grades were awarded at A* and A grade, with 10 per cent of grades being A*.

“They are enormously talented and enormously hard-working, and it is lovely to see their dedication and commitment rewarded in this spectacular way.

I would also, as always, like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the teachers of Hanley Castle, who give so much to ensure that students are inspired, prepared and cared for.

“This is a happy day for the whole school community.’

And at Malvern St James Girl’s School the number of A* and A grades increased for the second year in a row.

98 per cent of students achieved 5 or more GCSEs with an A* – C grade; while 71 per cent obtained 5 or more A* – C grades including mathematics, English language, science and a modern foreign language.

Olivera Raraty, Headteacher said: “This is an outstanding set of results for our very talented girls at MSJ and I am delighted for both them and our dedicated staff. This demonstrates considerable personal achievement across a range of subjects and testifies to their hard work, focus and determination.

“We are very proud of all that they have achieved and the very significant all round contribution they have made to MSJ and the wider community working with charities. They are happy, vibrant and energetic young women to whom we send our warmest congratulations.”
