A SERIES of meetings to help find 13 people to join a new council of governors at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust will be held across the county.

Malvern Hospital will host one of six information sessions held by the trust, and a meeting will take place in the training room next to the physio department next Monday (March 30), from 6.30pm to 8pm.

The 13 voluntary public governors will join trust staff and members from its partner organisations in representing the views of communities in delivering community and mental health NHS services.

Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust is looking to become an accredited foundation trust and a key element is increased accountability which means setting up a council of governors.

Gill Harrad, the trust’s company secretary, said the council of governors would provide a really important link between the trust board and local communities.

“It is a voluntary position and the council of governors can expect to meet at least four times a year and it plays a crucial role in representing the interests of local people, and in holding the trust’s board of directors to account,” she said.

“The sessions are intended to provide more on the role and answer any immediate queries people might have.”
