THOUSANDS of people attended Mappfest over the weekend to enjoy a packed programme of live music and activities.

On Saturday and Sunday at Malvern Link Top Common, festival goers enjoyed the glory days of the 70s and 80s through local bands including The Loved and Lost, Raptor, Malvern Big Band, Miss Pearl And The Rough Diamonds, Sun Fire and Magic Eight Ball.

As well as live music performed in the 140 seater covered tepee, the festival hosted a wide range of activities including sumo wrestling, a giant 240ft water slide, bouncy castles, arts and crafts, a tombola and raffle, children’s entertainers and a licenced bar.

There was also be a ‘Battle of Britain’ memorial flight on both days, where Spitfires, Lancasters and Hurricanes made an appearance.

The festival raised money for Acorns Children’s Hospice, St Richard’s Hospice and Community Action Malvern and District and was sponsored by SwingIt Sound Systems, Julie-Anne Goode Photography and Marsha Parkins Fine Art and Illustration.

Organiser Andy Mapp told the Observer: “There was a bit of rain on the Sunday but all our visitors seemed to really enjoy themselves. It was a great occasion and the flypast certainly got people talking.”
