THE AREA’S business parks could be the blueprint for developments in Czech Republic following a visit from residents of Malvern’s twin town.

Petr Tresnak, mayor of Marianske Lazne – Marienbad, spent a few days in the town and looked around some of the key sites including Malvern Hills Innovation Centre and Three Counties Showground.

Mr Tresnak aims to establish a business park in Marienbad, which has been twinned with Malvern since 2012, and wanted inspiration for the project.

He and his deputies Martin Hurajcik and Vojtech Franta also met Coun Barbara Williams, Malvern Hills District Council’s chairman, as part of Civic Week.

The group was presented with a framed print of the Malvern Hills and in return was given a picture and a reference book of old postcards of Marienbad.

Coun Williams said: “It was a privilege to welcome the mayor and his deputies to Malvern.

“Twinning is vitally important as it allows us to share ideas, information and learn more about each other in a spirit of friendship and understanding.”

Performances from youngsters from Canzona Choir (pictured right) was another highlight during Malvern Civic Week, which took place between July 13 and July 17.

The group performed at the Bands in the Park at Priory Park and there was a music masterclass for primary school children at Christ Church.

Roger Sutton, of Malvern Civic Society, added: “Civic Week has gone extremely well with everyone very pleased with the turnout at the concerts and talks.

“The visit of the Mayor of Marianske Lazne was clearly and important event for the town council and the visit of the choir enchanted audiences in Christ Church, Malvern, Kington, Ledbury and Twyning.”
