MORE THAN 96,000 people flocked to Malvern last week for the landmark Royal Three Counties Show.

Visitors immersed themselves in a true celebration of the British countryside as England’s largest livestock and equine show unfolded at the Three Counties Showground from Friday to Sunday.

Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, patron of the Royal Three Counties Show, attended on Friday to mark the momentous year for the event as well as presenting the Three Counties Agricultural Society Long Service Awards

The Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery dominated the Main Arena with their spectacular displays each day accompanied by live music from The Band of the Queen’s Division.

BBC Countryfile presenter and born and bred Gloucestershire farmer Adam Henson returned once again filming an episode of Countryfile from the Three Counties Showground which will be aired on BBC Two on Sunday, July 24.

This year’s show also welcomed a record number of more than 3,500 school pupils from more than 60 schools across the county on the opening day of the show.

Ken Nottage, chief executive of the Three Counties Agricultural Society, said: “We are immensely proud of how this year’s Royal Three Counties Show has gone.

“The outstanding visitor numbers demonstrate that the countryside is still current in today’s modern and bustling world and that the agricultural industry is thriving.

“2016 has really been a outstanding year for the show with HRH The Princess Royal and The Kings Troop joining us and really putting the royal in our name. Thank you to all those who joined us.

“Plans are firmly underway for Malvern Autumn Show in September, which brings our 2016 show season to a close.”
