Plans unveiled for Colwall Primary's temporary school

Malvern Editorial 24th Jul, 2014 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

PLANS for Colwall Primary School’s new temporary school where pupils are set to spend 12 months have been unveiled.

Herefordshire Council has now formally submitted an application for the new buildings and detailed sketches are now available to view on the authority’s website.

The proposed ground floor plan shows an L-shaped complex consisting of six classrooms, an ICT classroom, three groups rooms as well as some office and storage space.

A school hall with an adjoining kitchen lies at the heart of the scheme with another building branching off it leading to the reception, library, teaching officers and a first aid room.

The new complex will be located on the current school playing field and the application also includes provision for sports pitches on a neighbouring field.

The Observer revealed last week that the existing primary school building off Walwyn Road is to be closed off for a year while investigations into persisting problems with damp are carried out.

To view the plans visit www.herefordshire.gov.uk and click on ‘search for planning applications’ typing in the reference number P142104/CD.

Comments can be made before August 4. The proposals are currently scheduled to be determined by September 8 and headteacher Judith Tinsely has assured parents facilities will be in place by the time pupils return to school for the Autumn term.
