BUSINESSES offering opportunities for employees who lost their jobs when a leading Malvern engineering firm was forced to shut its doors have been praised by the town’s MP.
Almost 100 members of staff were made redundant last week after administrators failed to find a buyer for Dytecna Limited and Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, launched an appeal for companies to highlight vacancies in the area.
Mrs Baldwin said employers had filled her mail box with opportunities since the closure and was hopeful more would follow to offer jobs.
“I have been very pleased by the response from the local businesses community which has rallied round and replied to my appeal,” she said.
“A number of local firms have been in touch with vacancies and several more have got in touch with Malvern Hills District Council.
“I hope that we will be able to help find fresh opportunities for much of the very talented workforce and the Job Centre Plus team has been on site talking to staff.
“I hope other companies which have vacancies get in touch and together we can help to reduce the impact of this unfortunate event.”
