Traditional fun flies the flag for St George

Malvern Editorial 1st May, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

THERE was plenty of traditional fun on show in Great Malvern as the town marked St George’s Day.

Residents came out in force to join a flag raising ceremony on the grounds of Malvern Library, which was hosted by Julian Roskams, Mayor of Malvern, and led by Rev John Barr of Malvern Priory.

The Appleyard Morris Dancers and buglers from the Malvern Boys’ Brigade also performed on Thursday (April 23), while councillors, residents and businesses all joined in prayer for St George and the whole assembly then sang a rendition of the hymn Jerusalem. Mr Roskams then raised the flag of St George.

Officers at Malvern Town Council thanked everyone who joined in to mark the ceremony.
