TRIBUTES have been paid to the former chief executive of Malvern Hills District Council who has passed away.
A moment of silence was held for Martin Jones at the full council meeting on Thursday (March 19).
Coun Barbara Williams said Martin served as the chief executive for 11 Years until 1998 and was fondly remembered by councillors and officers alike.
She added: “We are saddened by the news that our former chief executive has passed away and our sincere condolences go to the family.
“I am one of the few remaining councillors who was on the council at the time and I recall Martin as a true gentleman and excellent chief executive.”
Mr Jones’ funeral will be held today(Thursday) at the Chesterfield Crematorium at 2.10pm and refreshments will be after at Manners Hotel Bakewell.
