KEEN cyclists are being urged to saddle up and raise some cash as part of a gruelling 100-mile charity ride.

Malvern Town Council has laid down the gauntlet for the Mad Malvern Cycling Team Challenge 2015 with residents set to rake in the funds for Age UK and Dementia UK – the charities chosen by the town’s mayor .

On April 12, between 10.30am and 4.30pm, riders will start from Victoria Park in Malvern Link and undertake a 20-mile course which will include Welland, Hanley Castle and Hanley Swan.

Teams of five are recommended to complete the total 100-mile race, although any number less than five can still take part.

Victoria Park will also be hosting several other attractions throughout including a bouncy castle and traditional Victorian fairground ride.

Coun Roskams said: “I am delighted once again to have the chance to combine my passion for cycling with raising funds for two causes close to my heart, Age UK and Dementia UK.

“This year the route has been designed for cyclists of all ages and abilities, so please join us for what I am sure will be a great fun day out for all.”

There is a £20 registration fee and to enter contact Eadwine Brown from the town council on [email protected] or 01684 566667.

Registrations must be made my midday on Thursday, April 2.
