Witnesses wanted after cyclist was punched several times on Malvern road

WITNESSES are wanted after a cyclist was punched several times in broad daylight following an argument with a driver.

Police are investigating the assault which took place around 12.30pm on Sunday, June 12 which led to the victim, a man in his 30s, suffering serious injuries.

The man was cycling across Pickersleigh Road when there was a verbal altercation with the driver of a black Volkswagen Golf.

He then cycled up Ashdown Rise and on to Madresfield Road, where he saw the same vehicle waiting for him.




Three men exited the vehicle. All were described as white and in their late teens/early twenties.

Following a further verbal altercation, the victim was approach by one of the men who punched him in the face and on he hand several times.


The victim had placed the offender in a head lock when two other men approached who then hit him several times in the head and body.

A near neighbour heard the confrontation at which point and came out, at which point the three men ot back into the Golf and left in the direction of Great Malvern.

The first man, the driver of the Golf, is described as around six foot in height and of skinny build with light coloured hair. He was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap and a white T-shirt.

The second man is described as stocky in build with short dark hair. He was wearing a light coloured T-shirt.

The third man is described as being of slim build with short spiky ginger hair.

There was also a woman with the group who was sat in the front passenger seat but did not leave the vehicle.

The victim sustained serious facial injuries and bruising to his ribs and hand which required hospital treatment.

West Mercia officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or has any information which could be related to the incident.
