Colwall top of the table after week one of Worcestershire County Cricket League

THE SEASON may only be one week long but that won’t stop the players of Colwall Cricket Club seeing it with delight after they topped Worcestershire County Cricket League Division One.

Colwall began the campaign with a five-wicket win against Bewdley last Saturday.

Tom Coleman’s 126 not out from 130 balls helped steer them to their 232 target which put them top of the table albeit it being on alphabetical order.

Colwall will hope to make it two wins out of two when they entertain Oldswinford & Stour Social tomorrow (Saturday).

Elsewhere, Malvern suffered a five-wicket defeat in their Division Three opener against Netherton and Kempsey lost by 99 runs to Ross-on-Wye in their season opener after gaining promotion from Division Four last season.

This weekend sees Malvern take on Harborne 3rds at home and Kempsey are also on home turf against Old Vigornians.
