LEDBURY darting ace Terry Jenkins crashed out of this year’s PDC World Matchplay in the second round following an 11-4 defeat to reigning double World Champion Gary Anderson last night (Wednesday).

Jenkins, a two-time World Matchplay finalist, started brightly as he took the first leg but Anderson hit back with an impressive 11-darter before taking a 3-1 lead at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

The 52-year-old world number 16, who is still awaiting his first major title and had won 12 of the last 13 outings against The Flying Scotsman before Wednesday’s clash, kept his hopes of securing a quarter-final place alive after he closed the gap to 5-4.

However, The Bull was swept aside as Anderson hammered in five consecutive legs to move 10-4 ahead before hitting another 11-darter to secure the victory with a three-dart average of 100.76.

Jenkins’ next major appearance will be at the World Grand Prix which takes place in Dublin, Ireland, from Sunday, October 2 to Saturday, October 8.

The Bull finished as runner-up in the World Grand Prix back in 2006 and 2007, losing out to Phil Taylor and James Wade respectively.

The World Gran Prix is played in a sets format with players having to start each game on a double.
