Jenkins hoping to improve in World Championship second round clash

TERRY Jenkins has said his performance level must step up if he is to advance further in the PDC World Championship.

The Ledbury ace came back from behind to beat American Darin Young in the first round of darts’ biggest event last Tuesday (December 22).

But despite a four-set win,  Jenkins told the Observer he must improve if he is to beat his next opponent Mark Webster on Monday in their second round encounter.

“Mark has struggled during the past 12/18 months but the last couple of months he has been playing really well so I’ve got to play better than I did against Darin,” he said.

“I’ve got to be more steady than I was against Darin but I think I can do it.”

Webster, who won the BDO World Championship in 2008, beat Irishman Mick McGowan 3-0 to reach the second round.

But Jenkins will go to the game with some confidence having beaten Webster eight times from the pair’s previous eleven matches.
