LEDBURY darting ace Terry Jenkins will face Justin ‘The Force’ Pipe in the opening round of this year’s World Matchplay.

Taking place in Blackpool at the Winter Gardens, the nine-day World Matchplay is played in a leg format and has a total prize fund of £450,000.

Jenkins’ previous best in the tournament was back in 2007 and 2009 where he finished as runner-up, losing out to James Wade and Phil Taylor respectively.

Darts supremo Barry Hearn said: “The Matchplay is right up there as the second biggest tournament. This year, its tougher than ever to predict.”

The opening round of the World Matchplay starts next Saturday (July 16).

This will be The Bull’s first meeting with Pipe in more than two years.
