Malvern Town boss aiming for FA Cup qualification

MALVERN Town boss Les Jones is hoping his side can clinch a top five finish this season to qualify for the opening rounds of next year’s FA Cup.

Town are in a rich vein of form at the moment, winning five of their last six league outings before their game at Pegasus Juniors was dramatically postponed after just over an hour with Town leading 5-1.

No decision has been reached yet whether or not the three points will be awarded to Town but Jones has urged his squad to push on going into this weekend’s fixture against Willenhall Town.

“We’ll be looking to avenge the 2-0 defeat to them from earlier in the season,” said Jones.

“We’re extremely disappointed that our game at Pegasus was called off after 66 minutes  but we are looking to just keep winning.

“We want to win as many games as we can so that we can finish in the top five which would allow the club to participate in the FA Cup next season.

“Last season we went on a long unbeaten run stretching to about 20 games so going into the latter stages of this campaign, we’d like to recreate that kind of form.”
