MALVERN Town got their pre-season campaign off to the perfect start as they ran out comfortable winners in their first two friendly matches.

Malvern on Saturday recorded a 5-3 win over Hellenic Premier Division outfit Highmoor Ibis before they impressed with a 3-0 win over Littleton last night (Tuesday) at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.

Meanwhile, Malvern will begin their season with an FA Cup tie at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium against Midland League Premier Division side Rocester next month.

The Hillsiders will play their extra preliminary round tie on Saturday, August 6, with the winners facing an away fixture at Northern Premier First Division South side Bedworth United on Saturday, August 20.

The draw for the FA Vase has also been released and Malvern will go up against Midland League Premier Division side Tividale in the first qualifying round.

Les Jones’ side will host the match on Saturday, September 10.

Should Malvern progress, they will face Leicestershire Senior League outfit Birstall United at Meadow Lane on Saturday, September 24.

The draw for the preliminary round of the FA Youth Cup sees Malvern Town travel to Hereford FC on Monday, September 5, with the winner making the trip to Evesham United.

Giving his reaction to the draws, Jones said: “There’s a great incentive for our players to do well in the FA Cup and FA Vase but they’re both going to be very tough games.

“We’ll be hoping for a big turnout for both matches.

“Our youth team drawing Hereford is also a great incentive and hopefully they can get a result.”

Malvern have also been busy in the transfer market, brining in central midfielder Nathan Hayward from Powick Rangers as well as Paul Edwards from Welland FC, while young striker Ben Hayes is expected to sign for Bishops Cleeve.
