TWO SPECIAL matches will be held at the HDanywhere Community Stadium on Saturday to remember former Malvern Town chairman Paul Pallett.

Town’s first team and reserve side will take on Droitwich Spa in a double-header as part of the inaugural Paul Pallett Memorial Cup.

The matches, which will take place at 2.30pm and 4.30pm, come after Pallett, who was also a former reserve team manager at the club, lost his brave battle against motor neurone disease in December.

His son, Dan Pallett, who is a sports presenter for BBC Midlands Today, is set join fellow family members to present the trophy.

Manager Les Jones, who worked closely with Pallett at Malvern for many years, said he hoped to a large number of people turn out for the special day.

“Paul was a terrific guy and he did great work at Malvern and at Droitwich, so it should be a nice day,” Jones said.

“We are really looking forward to the two matches and hope we get a big crowd, so we can raise lots of money for motor neurone disease.”

Meanwhile, Malvern notched up their first win in pre-season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Hereford Lads Club on Tuesday night.
