'Patriotic Pudding Night' in Lower Broadheath will mark 75th D-Day anniversary

THOSE with a sweet tooth can go along to a ‘Patriotic Pudding Night’ at Lower Broadheath Village Hall to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

The event on April 27 will feature a parade led by David Waldron, the Worcestershire Chair of the Royal British Legion, and local cadets representing the Army, Navy and RAF.

Broadheath and Rushwick WI has organised the night which is being led by Kay Hurn who served in the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps.

She said: “We want this to be a jubilant evening of comradeship within the community and a timely tribute to the heroes of the D-Day landings.

“The Women’s Institute is known for its wartime efforts on the Home Front too, so we are honouring our most senior members who can remember those days.”

Guests will be served a ploughman’s supper followed by an array of delicious desserts, including some British favourites.

There will be music from local singer ‘Sarah B’ and a raffle will raise funds for the Worcestershire Association of Carers.

Tickets, at £10 each, are available by emailing broadheathwithrushwickwi@gmail.com or by calling 01905 429031.
