Raise funds for St Richard's Hospice by stepping out on Waterways Walk

Malvern Editorial 19th Sep, 2020   0

WALKERS, nature lovers and hospice supporters are being invited to join the St Richard’s Hospice Waterways Walk for an 11th year – with a very 2020 take on the annual event.

Rather than take part on a single day, walkers can choose an 11 or 22-mile route on any day in September or October.

Kelly Johns, hospice fund-raiser, said: “Our Waterways Walk is a hugely popular event, and has raised a significant amount towards the free care we provide to people across Worcestershire, so we were keen to find a way for it to go ahead while observing social distancing rules.

“Holding the event across September and October means our supporters can still enjoy a wonderful walk locally for our care – just not all at once!”

“In the new format, registration is free and walkers can choose one of two routes, a date and time to take part to suit them, and we’ll provide directions and a map. We also ask that people gain as much as they can in sponsorship to ensure we can continue to be there for patients and their loved ones when they need us most.”

The 11-mile walk is a one-way route starting at Droitwich Spa Rugby Club and finishing at The Anchor at Diglis.

Due to construction works on the towpath between Sixways and Tibberton this year, the 22-mile walk is a return route which sees walkers turn around at The Anchor and head back to their starting point at Droitwich Rugby Club.
