Residents praised as Worcestershire records its lowest Covid rates in months

COUNTY health chiefs have applauded residents who have helped deliver some of Worcestershire’s lowest rates of Covid-19 in months.

Worcestershire rates at 12 infections per 100,000 people which is the lowest rate of infection since August.

While welcoming the news, health chiefs have warned the current rules must continue to be followed to continue to suppress the spread of the virus.

Dr Kathryn Cobain, director for Public Health for Worcestershire said: “It is really great to see the reduction in the numbers of people testing positive for Covid-19. You have all worked so hard to achieve this and I know it hasn’t been easy.

“As shops and premises reopen, it’s lovely to see people enjoying themselves out and about in the spring sunshine.

“We are now in a very strong position and it’s really important we keep it that way. Nobody wants to see the numbers going back up and their loved ones at risk of being seriously ill.

“Please keep following the guidance and only socialise indoors with people you live with or who are in your support bubble.

“Enjoy meeting up safely and keep to two households or six people outside.

“Thank you so much, together we are making a huge difference. Let’s keep it going.”
