Residents urged to nominate young people for the Worcestershire Tryangle Awards

Malvern Editorial 14th Jan, 2019   0

TOWN residents are being urged to nominate a local young person for the 2019 Tryangle Awards in Worcestershire.

The awards, which culminate in a presentation evening at Worcester Bosch in March 2019, are a chance to highlight the efforts and achievements of the county’s young people – the real ‘Tryers’ those who achieve against the odds; the unsung heroes who show real commitment and resolve; and those who get on with things without making a fuss.

The awards are organised by Droitwich-based independent youth charity Young Solutions and are sponsored by Worcester Bosch, Mazak, Harrison Clark and Rickerbys, Oakland International, Fortis, The Margaret Westwood Memorial Trust and Baxter Williams.

Previous award winners include a young person who had volunteered at a sports club, a young lady who helped dancers at a dance school and one young woman who received an award for being a dedicated carer of her younger brothers and sisters.

Nominations can come from teachers, social workers, youth workers, police officers, health professionals, parents, friends and anyone wants to say ‘well done’ to a young person.

Particularly welcome are nominations for young people aged 11 to 19 (or up to 24 years with a disability) who have had to overcome personal, health or other difficulties.

In the past Award recipients have included young people who have been homeless or unemployed or have experienced problems with their own health or a close family member with health difficulties.

There are six categories of the Awards including Bravery, Arts or Music, Good Friends and Carers, Citizenship and Environment, Sports and Personal Development. The Awards are now in their fourteenth year and there have been many inspirational stories associated with previous recipients.

Nominations are invited for the 2019 Tryangle Award. Applicants must either live or volunteer with Worcestershire.

There is also an Adult Volunteer Award which recognises outstanding contribution and effort by adult volunteers.

For full details visit www.youngsolutions.org.uk/ . Nominations close on Sunday, February 24, 2019.
