FAMILIES have a chance to get active this summer with a programme of free activities.

Malvern Hills District Council has teamed up with Action for Children, Fortis Living and Freedom Leisure to launch a six-week series of free events throughout the summer holidays.

The first activity takes place at Grove Primary School on Wednesday for a morning of bug hunting.

A family fun day at Dukes Meadow Playing Fields will be held on Friday, August 4 between 1.30pm and 4pm while the popular Summer Xplorer event will take place in Prioary Park on Wednesday, August 9 from 10.30am to 12pm.

Families can get involved in a game of rounders at Victoria Park the following Wednesday followed by picnic and games at Elgar Avenue Park between 12pm and 1.30pm at Elgar Avenue Park.

The six weeks of activities is concluded on Saturday, September 2 with another family fun day held at Dyson Perrins School from 12pm to 3.30pm.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Coun David Watkins, portfolio holder for healthier communities on Malvern Hills District Council, said: “These activities are a good way of helping families to stay active, and keep children and young ones entertained this summer holiday.

“There’s no need to book, just turn up and have fun”
