COLLEGE chiefs have spoken of their heartbreak after an 18-year-old boy was found dead.

Emergency services were called at about 10.20am on Sunday (January 9) to Malvern College amid concerns for the safety of a pupil.

Upon their arrival at the £39,000 a year independent school, they discovered the body of the teenager. His death is not being treated as suspicious according to West Mercia Police.

Devastated college staff confirmed the news in a statement and said it was ‘the most heartbreaking news imaginable’.

“We can sadly confirm the death of one of our pupils at Malvern College over the weekend,” a college spokesperson said.

“First and foremost, our thoughts and deepest condolences go to the pupil’s family.

“This is the most heartbreaking news imaginable and we have put in place additional, professional support for our whole community at this incredibly difficult time.

“Relevant authorities are involved in the matter and we are unable to comment further at this time.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 10.17am to reports of an incident on Woodshears Road, Malvern.

“Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene. On arrival, we found one patient, a man.

“Unfortunately, it immediately became clear that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
