Police constable Rachell Hall, aged 25, came in an impressive seventh place in the USPE European Police Judo Championship which is dubbed the ‘Olympics of police sport’ in Bulgaria.

The south Worcestershire LPA patrol officer faced a tough draw in the contest but earned herself a high ranking after receiving support from West Mercia Police’s Sports Fund to compete.

Rachel practised Judo as a child then rekindled her passion for the sport aged 20, before becoming a black belt at the age of 23.

PC Hall said: “It was awesome to fight against potential Olympians and players from other national squads across Europe.

“I am really pleased with my seventh-place finish against some truly combative opponents.

“I’m grateful to colleagues for their support and encouragement with my Judo experiences, especially for the funding which helped pay for accommodation, subsistence, and entrance fees.

“I will be back in 4 years’ time to try and beat my ranking and look forward to competing again.”
