Young Worcestershire County cricketers bring St Richard's Hospice a hamper full of Christmas cheer

YOUNG county cricket batsmen Jack Haynes and Josh Dell visited St Richard’s Hospice to bowl staff over with a luxury hamper and spread some Christmas cheer.

The visit rounds off a busy year for Worcestershire CCC in partnership with St Richard’s Hospice which became the Pears first official charity partner this time last year with awareness and funds raised for the Wildwood Drive site throughout 2021.

2020 kicked off with a staff visit to the hospice before Morgan Motor Company gave up their front of shirt branding during June’s Vitality Blast fixture against Leicestershire Foxes to be replaced by a St Richard’s Hospice logo.

The fixture attracted more than 180,000 viewers during the live stream on YouTube. It also reached over one million across the club’s social media channels throughout the day.

The charity also received a branded boundary board, an advertising banner on the old scoreboard, alongside an LED advert overlooking New Road seen by 7.7 million vehicles throughout the year.

September saw dozens of large decorated elephant sculptures migrate onto the New Road outfield as the club hosted St Richard’s Big Parade farewell event, which saw hundreds of visitors over three weeks.

Worcestershire CCC’s head of commercial and operations David Hoskins said: “The partnership has helped raise much-needed funds and the profile of St Richard’s throughout the county and beyond.

“The work they do is incredible in helping people to be as comfortable as possible through the latter stages of their life.

“I have nothing but the greatest admiration for them in dealing with the challenges they have to encounter every day, and that goes for everyone at Worcestershire CCC.”

Information on how charities can apply to become the Pears official charity partner for 2022 will be released shortly.
