Summer holidays set to be a giggle...

West Midland Safari Park’s brand new children’s play area is now open, just in time for the summer holidays.

‘Giggly Park’ is an £850,000 interactive and multi-sensory play area, designed specifically for younger guests. It is all themed around popular CBeebies and S4C character ‘Boj’, a rare bilby from the Australian outback.

Ahead of the official opening, some very important critics were allowed special access to the new area, to give their verdicts — a group of very excited children!

The youngsters, aged from one to six, inspected all five areas of Giggly Park, leaving no musical instrument unplayed nor any burrow unexplored. ‘Gavin’s Giggly Playground’ was full of children sliding, swinging and seesawing, whilst Rupa’s Superfit Challenge saw mums and kids competing together on the running track, as others used the trampoline to prove who could jump the highest.

Head of Marketing at the Safari Park, Daniel Griffiths said, “I was introduced to the creators of Boj, Pesky Productions, two years ago and I knew then, that by working together we could produce something amazing for our younger visitors. To see the finished result of the process two years on is fantastic.”

He continued, “It was great to see so many happy, smiling faces as they explored and played in such a bright and vibrant environment. We look forward to welcoming more families over the summer.”

At the centre of the play area is ‘Pops and Mimi’s Bandstand’ where guests can meet Boj himself at various times throughout the day. There is also Mrs Woof’s Diner where children can enjoy a delicious packed lunch or a frozen yoghurt sundae, whilst parents tuck into a tasty sandwich or baguette, all washed down with a fruit smoothie.

Giggly Park is situated next to the African Village, just past the Adventure Theme Park. During the Park’s Summer Nights event from 29 July to 3 September, Giggly Park will be open from 10:30am until 9pm, so guests will have even more time to explore the new area, which will be open all year round.

Giggly Park is included in West Midland Safari Park’s standard admission charge of £23.00 for adults, £18.00 for children aged 3-15 and £21.00 for concessions. Under 3s are free. Admission includes a voucher for a return visit or safari gift. Adventure Theme Park rides are charged extra.

Further information and tickets are available from the Park’s website or by telephone 01299 402114. You can find out more on the Safari Park’s official Facebook page: WestMidSafari.
