Hat-trick of wins for Malvern

Craig Gibbons 18th Jan, 2018

MALVERN claimed their third successive Midlands Two West (South) victory on Saturday with a resounding 66-17 home success over Leamington.

The Spring Lane outfit dominated from the start, scoring four tries in just six minutes to secure the try bonus point.

Ieuan Mustow, Ben King, Niall Potter-Farrant and Rob Cook all crossed the whitewash in a blistering start, with Cook kicking three conversions.

As the first half progressed, a rampant Malvern extended their lead with Potter-Farrant and Cook grabbing their second tries of the game, with the latter adding the extras.

Murstow was next on the scoresheet and again Cook converted.

After a period of good possession, Leamington bagged a converted try, but the hosts’ response was immediate with Glen Potter touching down and Cook converting as Malvern went into the break 40-7 ahead.

Following the interval, Tom Hale bagged himself a try and Cook kicked the extras once again.

From the restart kick Mustow fed Cook who was on hand to score and convert.

Hale and Potter continued the rout with Cook kicking his final conversions of the day.

Leamington scored a few consolation tries but Malvern, who now have a weekend off, closed out victory.
