Cheeky health campaign to warn students about STIs

Malvern Editorial 18th Sep, 2014 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

A BOLD poster campaign has been launched across the county to highlight the risk of Sexually Transmitted Infections

Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust is behind the awareness drive which is urging people, University students in particular, to get tested at their nearest sexual health clinic or seek confidential support if they feel they may have put themselves at risk.

Eye-catching posters have been produced to reinforce the message including a woman with a ‘Herpes’ tattoo underlying STIs can last a lifetime while another mocks up a social network feed where several people have ‘checked in’ in front of a man in boxer shorts.

Kate Wilson, health promotion specialist at WHAC, said: “STIs such as Herpes can last a lifetime. This campaign is about encouraging students to stay safe while having fun and enjoying this new sense of freedom.”

The trust operates a number of sites in Malvern which can provide contraception, emergency contraception, Chlamydia testing, STI testing and treatment, free condoms, pregnancy testing, advice and counselling.
