BARNARDS Green succumbed to their first defeat of the Birmingham & District League Division One season as they lost to Brockhampton.

After slumping to 64-5 in the opening exchanges, Phil Harris steadied the ship for Green with 48 runs off 82 balls before being dismissed lbw.

Dannie Rees (12), Jonathan Dovey (19), Alex Hepburn (20) and Jamie Tapper (12) were the only players to reach double figures for Green who were bowled out for 144 after 46.1 overs.

Brockhampton’s top order failed to capitalise on Green’s low score as Adam Hewlett (5), Henry Langford (5) and Ryan Tongue (11) were dismissed quickly.

However, Senuran Muthusamy’s 29 eased the fall of wickets before Joe Crichard added 54 to put Brockhampton on their way to victory, with Ian Bullock (24) adding the winning runs.

COLWALL sit one point off the top of the Worcestershire County League Division One table after easing to victory against Pedmore.

After bowling the visitors out for 112 in 37.2 overs with Wehan Joubert starring with 6-27, Colwall made easy work of their run chase as Ben Wheeler (35) and James Abel (27no) helped the home side to a 24-point victory.

KEMPSEY slipped to a 64-run defeat to Division Three leaders Bartestree & Lugwardine.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Kempsey bowled out the table toppers for 235 with Mike Berry (60 no), Ben Chaplin (47), Ben Simpkin (27) and Nick Frith (26) top scoring.

Despite Samuel O’Neill hitting a century of 81 balls, Kempsey failed to reach their target as they were bowled out for 171.

MALVERN are still awaiting their first win in Division Three after they lost by three wickets to Avoncroft.

Daniel Elliot starred with the ball for Avoncroft, taking 4-26 with Malvern all out for 128.

Despite Malvern dismissing Avoncroft’s opening two batsmen for ducks, Will Sach added 29 to steady the ship before Tom Murray (17), Elliot (12), Jason Patel (12) and Paul Athey (20) secured victory for the visitors.
