Leading scorer Reynolds excited by Malvern Town future

MALVERN Town’s leading scorer Dave Reynolds believes the club is heading for a bright future on and off the field.

The striker, who has scored 16 goals in 17 appearances so far this season, told the Observer there’s a cheerful atmosphere in the Malvern camp.

The club recently announced an £80,000 clubhouse refurbishment project and managing director Chris Pinder has targeted promotion in seasons to come.

“The club is definitely going in the right direction,” Reynolds said.

“Chris Pinder is making the club a very good place to be.

“Hopefully the squad will continue with their good form going into next season, both on and off the field.”

Malvern currently sit ninth in the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division table but Reynolds believes the team are more than capable of meeting manager Les Jones’ target of a top-five finish come the end of the season.

“At the start of the season we were a bit inconsistent with our performances but we have finally found our form,” he added.

“The squad definitely has the capability to secure FA Cup qualification, especially with the way we are playing at the moment.”

Despite Reynolds’ good run of form, he added he should have got more goals to his tally.

“I probably could have scored in a lot more games. On a personal level, I want to try and score in every game. Normally I usually aim for 20 goals a season but I like to score as often as I can.

“But sometimes it’s more about getting the results and seeing the team win than getting on the scoresheet.”

Reynolds will look to keep his good goalscoring run going into Saturday’s home game against Wolverhampton Sporting Community (3pm kick-off).

Saturday’s visitors to the HD Anywhere Community Stadium are currently in seventh position in the table, four points clear of Malvern with a game in hand.

Sporting won a seven-goal thriller 4-3 when the sides met in October last year.
