MALVERN Town boosted their hopes of securing a top five league finish after an impressive display saw them beat Ellesmere Rangers 4-1.
The victory was Malvern’s eighth league win on the bounce and put them back into fourth spot in the West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division with two games to go.
A Ben Hayes strike on the 37th minute opened the scoring for Malvern who dominated the match from start to finish.
Dave Reynolds then netted from the penalty spot in the 71st minute to put Malvern 2-0 to the good – the spot-kick was Malvern’s 100th league goal of he campaign.
But four minutes later Ellesmere pulled a goal back through Will Twyford to give the visitors something to think about with 15 minutes left on the clock.
But The Hillsiders wrapped up the three points on the 86th minute when Luke Corbett’s header gave them a 3-1 lead.
And Reynolds made it 4-1 in injury time after good work from Matthew Turner and Corbett set him up for his second of the match.
Malvern next face Stone Old Alleynians on Saturday (May 7).
