A BRILLIANT century from George Rhodes helped Barnards Green to their first victory of the season after they defeated Himley by 106 runs.
Rhodes, a talented young all-rounder at Worcestershire County Cricket Club, hit 137 not out as the Malvern side made a decent first innings score of 265-7 after being put into bat in the Birmingham League First Division clash.
Barnard Green’s Andy Ford made a quick-fire 54 to give Himley a target of 266. But despite a strong start, the hosts fell way short.
After hitting twelve fours and two sixes in his run a ball innings, Rhodes also contributed with the ball taking two wickets as Himley collapsed from 99-1 to 159-8 before bad weather halted proceedings.
Banards Green take 20 points from the fixture and climb to fourth place in the league table.
