Station revamp on track for Christmas

Malvern Editorial 23rd Oct, 2013 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

THE REVAMPED Malvern Link railway station is on track to be completed before Christmas.

Work to overhaul the site will see a new booking office, access ramp and waiting room built alongside changes to the car park as part of the Worcester Transport Strategy implemented by Worcestershire County Council aimed at reducing congestion on the roads.

The upgrade is also intended to help reinforce the station as a gateway to Malvern and as a commuter hub to key destinations. More work is ongoing at Worcester Foregate Street, where new entrance canopies, surfacing and internal cladding are being installed.

A footpath, office foundations and groundworks for the ramp have already started in Malvern while in the next six weeks further internal work will take place to complete the renovation.

A council spokesman said: “The overall aims of the Worcester Transport Strategy are to reduce congestion on our roads and to open up barriers to economic growth by supporting the local economy.

“We would like to thank people for their continued patience during the improvement works at both Foregate Street Station and Malvern Link Station.

Importantly, full access has been maintained to the ticket office, travel information centre and the platforms at all times.”
