COUNCIL bosses took to Twitter to highlight their work during a 24-hour national campaign.
Officers and councillors from Malvern Hills District Council tweeted using the #OurDay hashtag in a bid to promote the work done by local government.
Services including collecting waste, promoting economic development and sports programmes were promoted, with the aim of encouraging feedback from residents.
The day, organised by the Local Government Association, was so successful it was the UK’s number one trending topic by 9am – which meant it had more tweets per minute than any other subject – with more than 3,500 contributors sending over 10,900 tweets by midnight.
Council leader David Hughes said: “We wanted to use the power of social media to help reach out to people across the district.
“Social media can be vital for people living in rural areas and it’s really important local councils use all of the communications tools available to them.
We enjoyed taking part in the local government tweetathon to highlight the services that we provide and to try to get more people to talk to us about local issues.”
