Future of Ledbury consulted on

QUESTIONNAIRES about the future of Ledbury were filled in by residents during the weekend.

Volunteers were out in the town centre handing out the Ledbury Town Plan questionnaire which gives residents the opportunity to comment on key issues raised in earlier consultation activities on how the town can improve in years to come.

Several main aims for the Town Plan emerged from the consultation process. Residents said they wanted the town to improve by being a thriving and sustainable market town recognising the needs and aspirations of all residents and development projects to take into account the town’s local character.

Other aims included protecting the town’s heritage and meeting a balance between the needs of the community and commercial, industrial, leisure and tourist interests.

Wearing specially-made identity badges and carrying clipboards, the volunteers spoke with residents and explained to them the purpose of the survey.

The results from the questionnaires will be used to draw up the official Town Plan including an action plan for Ledbury Town Council.

Liz Harvey, chairman of the Town Plan steering group, said “The town plan team has been talking to people throughout the town for over a year. Now is the time we need everyone to get involved.

“This plan is all about our community and how we want it to develop and change.”
