A MALVERN vet has been chosen to stand for UKIP in the next general election.

It was announced on Monday (November 11), Richard Chamings is the official Parliamentary spokesman for the party and intends to contest the West Worcestershire seat, currently held by MP Harriett Baldwin, in 2015.

Mr Chamings founded White House Vets in 1985 and lives with his wife on Castlemorton Common. He has four grown-up daughters and has previously stood as a candidate for both Westminster and Europe, as well as sitting on the board of the Malvern Hills Conservators.

He said: “What makes me angry is paying billions of pounds a year into the bottomless EU coffers and getting nothing in return.

“While the EU continues to spend our money like there is no tomorrow, our public services are struggling to cope and in particular we have elderly people struggling to heat their homes.”
