Staff urged to speak out

Malvern Editorial 18th Nov, 2013 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

HOSPITAL staff are being urged to speak out about their concerns over patient care.

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, has signed up to the Nursing Times’ Speak Out Safely campaign, which means people can raise issues confidentially.

Staff can contact non-executive director Stephen Howarth, the new ‘being open’ champion, who will be able to deal with concerns promptly, openly and professionally.

He said: “Without the help of our staff, we cannot deliver a safe service and protect the interests of patients, staff and the Trust.

“If staff are worried about speaking out, we would rather they raise any issues when it is just a concern, rather than waiting for proof. Given the serious nature of some issues, it is vital that staff bring them to our attention.”
