THE TOWN is set be graced by a brand new jazz event this year which will be completely free to the public.

The Great Malvern Jazz Weekend will run over Easter from Friday, April 18, to Sunday, April 20, featuring a range of local talent from duos to big bands.

A number of venues have been confirmed including The Great Malvern Hotel, Olivers Malvern Wine Bar, Belle Vue Delicatessen and Café Bar, The Red Lion, The Morgan, The Courtyard Malvern and even gigs held on Belle Vue Island.

Co-organiser Robin Miller said: “The aim of the event is to host live jazz in a number of venues, free to the public, showcasing the best musicians from the local and surrounding area. The focus is on modern and contemporary jazz.

“We felt Malvern needed something a little different to compliment the rock and pop scene.

“There has been a lot of positive encouragement and a very good response that this will be something positive for the town.”

Malvern Hills District Council has supported the event and it will be sponsored by town based brewer The Friday Beer Co.
